Miraflores Community Concert
In el Parque Metropolitano, a private section is reserved for descendants of the indigenous peoples who settled the land. Most of the adults in the 400 person Comuna Miraflores work for very low wages in the park, while most of the children stay home to take care of younger siblings and cousins (their elementary school is very far and difficult to reach by public transport. Yet despite their humble surroundings, they are an upbeat and warm community, and welcomed us with enthusiasm to perform for their younger members.

MUSICWORKS brings interactive arts education into the lives of creative students. We act locally by presenting arts workshops to diverse school populations and pairing students with professionals through shared concerts. We act globally by sending teaching volunteers, supplies, medicine, and instruments to underprivileged populations in Latin America. Donations to MUSICWORKS support lessons, scholarships, equipment, and creative arts education!
