Saxophonist/Educator Pete Robbins Releases New Album
Composer/saxophonist Pete Robbins is also a fantastic educator. He developed the music curriculum for grades K-12 at Claremont Prep/Leman Manhattan, and is currently the Dean of Programs at the Brooklyn Queens Conservatory of Music.
Pete has been a long time collaborator with Musicworks (we will be presenting a summer intensive this August at BQCM), and his bassist Simon Jermyn currently teaches many of our special needs classes.
You can purchase his new album, “Transatlantic Quartet - Live in Basel” on iTunes or at his website. Check out his new band this Friday at the Cornelia Street Cafe.
“…a welcome presence on the creative music scene. … Robbins displays a keen imagination and a rousing command of his horn….Highly developed harmony, complex meter and searing improv…fiercely creative…” (David Adler, Time Out New York)“Mr. Robbins, an industrious and venturesome alto saxophonist and clarinetist, leads… an ambitious ensemble that combines spacious avant-gardism with the melodic punch of rock… Mr. Robbins plays with coolness as well as confidence… His compositions seem to breathe according to some collective whim.” (Nate Chinen, New York Times)
