MUSICWORKS' [local/global] EVENTS BLOG:

MUSICWORKS brings interactive arts education into the lives of creative students. We act locally by presenting arts workshops to diverse school populations and pairing students with professionals through shared concerts. We act globally by sending teaching volunteers, supplies, medicine, and instruments to underprivileged populations in Latin America. Donations to MUSICWORKS support lessons, scholarships, equipment, and creative arts education!

Below are photos from our work in NYC, Ecuador (Summer 2009, Spring 2010, Spring 2011), and Guatemala (Summer, 2010).

  • Improvising with the Oak Hill Chorus

Connelly Middle School’s sister school in Oak Hill, NJ, did a fantastic workshop with our students today. Seniors in the choir and dance team paired up with our middle schoolers, worked with them for an hour, and we all reconvened for a performance at the end. I’m especially proud of two 7th graders who improvised (in Bb major and F minor) along with the chorus.
